C.P. Berry Construction Company is Newbury Elementary School's PTA's Largest Single Donor

Newbury Elementary School's (NES's) PTA's largest single donor during fiscal year 2004-2005 was C.P. Berry Homes of Topsfield, Massachusetts. Caldwell Farm, an over 55 deluxe retirement community developed, owned and operated by C.P. Berry Homes and located in the parish of Byfield, was the exclusive sponsor of the NES Silent Auction & Wine Tasting entitled "Destination Education". This $20,000 sponsorship and the proceeds from the event raised $57,000 for NES, alleviating the need for a variety of smaller fundraisers throughout the year while providing our school with many essential elements that were cut in the budget process.

Alan Berry and his team not only donated the $20,000 sponsorship but they also stepped in to design, to print and to fulfill the 400 invitations and response cards associated with the event. A true partner in ever sense of the word, Mr. Berry and his team even sold tickets to the Auction enabling us to sell-out the maiden voyage of "Destination Education."

The generosity of C.P. Berry Homes did much to change the attitude of the public elementary school parents in our community. Their support of our efforts convinced folks that in this time of serious budget cuts we were able to raise the funds needed to provide our children with the education they deserve. This said, the NES PTA is currently undertaking a two year campaign to raise the additional funds needed to design, build and outfit a state of the art multi-media center to be used by our 650 students and our faculty. The $20,000 donated by C.P. Berry is the seed money for this project.

We are currently working with a committee comprised of parents, faculty, administrators and Mark O'Hara of Caldwell Farm to put a proposal together for this endeavor. The following areas are being addressed through this project...

  • Architect

  • Contractor

  • Building materials

  • Glass wall connecting the existing library to the existing computer lab

  • Technology upgrade ($12,000)

  • Wireless projector and screen

  • Non-fiction publications to supplement current social studies curriculum - grades K-6

  • Non-fiction publications to supplement current science curriculum - grades K-6

We at NES are truly fortunate to have found such a caring and committed partner and friend in Alan Berry and C.P. Berry Homes. It is no exaggeration to say that we wouldn't be where we are today without their belief in our children and our vision.
